- The Reno News and Review has audaciously suggested that people can be religious and non-conservative simultaneously. I don’t know where they got their information, but the article attempts to share the news with the Democratic Party, whoever that may be. I think they’re that softball team running for president. Anyway, the article linked above led me to The Religious Left, which is like this site, which is like every other site currently online, but looks like it might be somewhat interesting. (The writer is a “progressive Episcopalian,” though I’m not sure that’s an adjective you should be allowed to apply to yourself. It’s kind of like referring to yourself as an artist; shouldn’t that really be everyone else’s call?)

- Sally Baron died on August 18 at the age of 71. When asked what if there was a cause to which people could contribute in Sally’s honor, her children decided to include these words in her obituary:

“Memorials in her honor can be made to any organization working for the removal of President Bush.”

And a meme was born. I dutifully pass on the link.

- Sometimes, I like to take a break from listening to domestic squabbling and listen to what angry, seething Iraqis have to say about the war on their web sites.

- Oh, and Mars will be closer to you than ever tonight at about 1:43 a.m.
