Only I have ever wondered this, but just in case anyone is interested: the infamous failure of public housing that wasPruitt-Igoe was named after anti-WWI legislator William Igoe and a WWII flying ace/Tuskegee Airman namedWendell Oliver Pruitt. What these two people have to do with the neighborhood and/or one another, I can only guess. But I know more about them than I did yesterday.
