Thanks to Greg, I have been doing some reading this afternoon on the president’s bling. As he mentioned, VH1’s hard-hitting coverage of the 2004 election contest continues this week with “The Fabulous Life: Bush vs. Kerry Bling-Off.” I applaud VH1 (owned by Viacom, also lords of MTV, CBS, Blockbuster, Oprah, Star Trek, BET, The Brady Bunch and my second and third future children) for their lemonade-out-of-lemons approach to the fact that our nation is again up for grabs between a child of privilege and another child of different privilege. Rich Dad vs. Rich Dad and Wife: incredibly depressing? No! Think of it as a bling-off!

To keep the American wheels of consumption well-oiled while also roughly equating George Bush with Paris Hilton, they have even posted a list of bling vendors that will enable the viewer to be as cold pimpin’ as G-Dub himself. Rocky Carrol Cowboy Boots? Mr. Kerry, who are you wearing?

I’d have simply sighed and kept all this to myself if it were not for the always entertaining “Comments” section. They can’t all be jimski.net:
