The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is finally putting a little elbow grease into their web site, after years of being sort of begrudging and half-hearted about it. They used to distractedly post stories willy-nilly online (without preserving formatting or pictures, almost always with editor’s notes like “make this paragraph bold” still intact right in the story) as if to say, “All right, fine. Everyone has to have a web site. Here. Web site. Are you happy now, or do you need your binky?”

Recently, though, the Post has redesigned their six-year-old page template and started adding bl*gs and live talkback features every day. As a lover of comedy, unfiltered opinions from random web users are like big rocks of crack inside M&M candy shells to me. Today’s topic, ‘Where are the most dangerous traffic spots in the area?’ is hilarious in a gestalt way; reading a couple of screens reveals that the most dangerous street in St. Louis is every street in St. Louis. The discussion paints a picture of the city not unlike some of those later scenes in War of the Worlds.
