I assure you, I am well aware that the site was down for a couple of days, denying everyone the opportunity to check it and see I hadn’t updated it yet again. The bits and bytes and megs and migs that make site go have been uninstalled and reinstalled, the requisite number of goats have been ritualistically slaughtered, and I have flipped my kitchen light switch exactly 27 times with my left hand. Nobody knows why it happened; nobody knows when it happened; I can assume it wasn’t due to being hammered with hits.

Actually, I was mildly melancholy the other day with memories of when I would put something online and get mail (typically hate mail, with occasional kudos) from readers halfway across the country. “Sigh,” I thought, sighing in my thoughts, “I guess those days are over. All the young people today with their blogs and vlogs and zogs don’t need old Uncle Jimski anymore. Repeat sigh.”

A short time later, it occurred to me that I might not get quite as much mail because (for reasons that viewing my spam folder would make abundantly clear) I haven’t posted my e-mail address on my web site in something like six years.

It has been suggested that I am an idiot.
