In my experience, having a web site– really having one, as opposed to this myspace bull$#%@ the kids do these days with their anime and their Fiddy Cent– is like a combination between cultivating a bonsai garden and Jenga. Prune a little there, add a little here, more water, less sunlight, just a little mOh my God, oh my God the sparks and screaming and the smell of burning hair.
Yesterday we took one giant leap away from the rickety old code holding this site up. We were very proud of ourselves. I wrote at some length about how nice it was going to be to have something that just worked. You would be reading that right now, in this very space, but after all these years I still haven’t learned the lessons of the Titanic: never call the ship “unsinkable.”
So the good news is, nothing of value was lost. I had made, essentially, a post before the good times were over. Unfortunately, the three intrepid souls who had registered on the site did so in vain. Poof!
Let’s try this again.
Everything new is newer again. I repeat the proclamation that, from this moment on, anyone should be able to comment. No registering. No logging in. No absolute need to even be honest about who you are. Use your powers for good.

He’s right. I can post a comment, and I can’t even eat a pretzel without nearly choking to death.

It’s gremlins, Jim. No, not the movie kind, but the ones that get into machinery and wreak all manner of havok.
But speaking of the film Gremlins, I’m working a church lock-in tonight. And similar to those loveable movie monsters, you shouldn’t feed teenagers after midnight either.

By the way, archives of the old site’s posts are coming. Good things come to those who wait, and so do archives of my crap.

I have left a comment and am a better person for it.

I blame the comments for ruining the database. What’s that? You didn’t mention the database?
I’ve said too much.

It’s all my fault; I goaded Jim into a comments section. Thanks for the redesign, tho.
